I assume you are connecting your router to your PC via your ethernet port. Can the PC actually connect to the router and allow you to do the setup procedure?

Thanks for yr help. Yes PC can connect to router, but just get messages that n there is no adsl connection...yet old speedtouch 330 connects every time. Virgin now saying that SRN?? no. is only 6 and that may not be high enough for netgear router. So it is a BT line problem. What is SRN? could this be a likely explanantion???

I presume you got this message about SRN over the phone? I think they were trying to tell you about your REN (Ringing Equivalence Number). Have a look at this for an explanation. Does that sound anything like what you were told? If it does that seems to suggest that you've got too many other telephone devices installed. Is that possible? I'm still not convinced that it has any bearing on the case, but let's see.

Anyhow only have 1 base station for a set of three wireless dig phones connected plus the modem. Can't find anything on google re SRN..will phone virgin and ask them. Thanks again, its a mystery!

Its SNR not SRN ........... it stands for signal noise ratio i think.... basically most ISP set this at 6 and i think they are saying you netgear may not detect this.....this is wrong.... i have the same router and it works fine bu SNR at 6....

Can't help with your problem but hope the SNR now makes sense.......

SNR makes much more sense. Next step is to get some more information out of Virgin. What exactly did they tell you about your SNR? This article tells you more about low SNR. It does suggest that figures as low as 6 should not be a problem with a router but attenuation can also be a factor. You should be able to log on to your router and look at the log files to see exactly what you are getting.

I am getting nowhere very slowly. Virgin are being absolutely useless. Keep getting different stories, from different operators. Have taken to 'dictating'notes for operators to put on file, re requesting supervisors to phone but mo one ever does....and the joke is the only way you can complain to this 'new media' giant is by post! Likewise Netgear support who have gone dead for days. aNYONE GOT ANY TIPS FOR MAKING THESE PEOPLE JUMP ABOUT. Thanks...

I note that nobody has said anything about Router Passwords

Could the Issue be caused by the same Router Password is being used for Both the routers? And the Older Version has taken Priority blocking the Netgear?
Solution... Uninstall the Netgear Router Program.Reinstall .Make a New (Different) password up (for the Netgear Router ) Generates a different Number and Fingers crossed, will be ignored By the Other Program?
