God Send!
      #381370 - Fri Jan 25 2008 11:47 AM

This BBCi-Play is an absolute godsend!

An example is that my 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter go NUTS over Mister Maker. An arts n crafts show. But we always miss it.....
Now they can watch it whenever they like!

We don't have sky plus and the VCR is naff so this really is a fantastic bit of kit!
I get to see the things that I miss too!

I am so glad we have it and use it! I can keep the kids quiet for ages with all the other BBC shows they love. All with a click of a button!

Thanks BBC!

Just checked that one out........

Films and sport

To offer BBC programmes through BBC iPlayer, the BBC has to acquire the relevant rights from the people who make and appear in them. Some types of programmes, particularly films and sporting events (including football matches, Match of the Day and so forth), won’t be available on BBC iPlayer. This is because the BBC is not permitted to make these programmes available through BBC iPlayer.

I've noticed quite a lot of programmes on in the evening that I don't see on there the next day, one example is Family Guy. I wonder if that is because it is from the US? Surely it wouldn't be because it's an adult cartoon - some programmes on the player do have age warnings after all.

It's also a shame they can't put movies on there, I'd love to have something longer to watch at work.

Nah just ask the boss for a DvD player, 42" Sony and an account with Blockbuster, afterall it's only work.

The BBC can only show the material that they have either made themselves or commissioned for their channels, not third party programming and films bought in via the international market.

Baz, I know it's an old post, but if you've still got your naff VCR, why don't you consider buying one of these. I've got one and it's one of the best things I've ever bought. You get all the freeview channels, record whole series in one go and there's plenty of online support in the form of various forums. Be warned though, if you do get one, you'll end up watching far more TV! Well, I do anyway.
