Ok, here is my problem & I hope someone can tell me what could be the problem because I myself, an advanced pc user, that’s had allot of experience with adsl/cable broadband & building pc’s is really confused.
I have BT Broadband Option 3 that you can find here, BT Home
Now, I have a BT Voyager 2091 ss router, as I ordered it over the phone, but at the time, you don’t get the hub unless it was via the web. Anyways, here is the problem now you know the package im on.
This is screen shots of the connection speeds stats on my router.

Now, this is the problem, that’s clearly showing me im on a pretty decent connection, yet when I download whatever from the web, it’s a pathetic 10-14kbps. The most I managed to sap out of it was using orbit download software & it managed to get to 19kbps. I went to www.speedtest.net as I use it often when setting up networks & the download speed is 137kbps & upload speed is 336. The only thing I have is filter, router & 1 phone. I’ve tried it with just router connected & connecting via Ethernet/usb & wireless, but the downloads are all the same sucky speeds.
BT say, there pumping over 5mb down my line, which is true as the router says so. They tried to say its my firewall, antivirus blocking my speeds, but I tested it on a laptop I installed a fresh xp with no protection on & same thing.
The only option left to me is that BT are basically sharing my internet speed with the rest of Sheffield But they said no faults on my line, even had engineer come out & look at the line & he said all is ok.
So, please help me in this as I’m stuck in a 18 month contract & I have a useless internet connection, that I have no option but to keep & pay for, for the next 17 months.
Thanks
