Hello there, I'm not very technical but i'm looking to purchase an external hard dive as the hard drive on my laptop isn't very large, 60gb, and i'm looking to store all of the downloads that i have. i have xp operating system and my laptop is a toshiba equium m50-164 model-there shouldn't be any problems with attaching a hard dive to it? what models would you recommend? i'm not looking for anything big-about 100-200 gb. i'm also looking for a hard drive that can attach to my xbox 360 so that i can watch films/tv shows through it etc. i'm concerned that some won't be recognised by console. i did a software update on it and it can now recognize vidx and other video formats. any suggestions please?

OK you need to check that your laptop has a spare usb or firewire port, if so then any external hard drive will work with your laptop?
You mention capacity but not your budget!
Are you wireless, have you considered streaming your media that way to your 360, it's a lot tidier than having an external drive poking at the front of your console, however this is all dependant on your set up?
If not, any external drive will be recognised by your console.
