Laptop Keyboard Run Awayyyyyyyy
      #380918 - Tue Jan 22 2008 12:29 PM

I have a HP pavilion ZE4801EA (Windows XP home)with a keyboard problem. Every time i press certain keys (b,n, /, and space bar) I get the following displayed "b n" and then the "n" runs away. The only way I can stop it is by smacking all keys until it stops. All other keys operate correctly. I have formatted the hard drive and it still fails. I have attached an external keyboard via PS2 socket, this works fine but the laptop keyboard still has the fault. I then thought it must be the laptop keyboard at fault so I replaced this with new item, but it still has the same fault. I'm now stuck at what to look at next, can anyone help, please.

Have you checked to see if anything is stuck under the N key?

It may be something that's causing it to stay depressed.

Thanks for replying. I have checked for anything unusuall around the "N" key and also replaced the keyboard with a new one. Still the fault continues. More help required.

If it's not the laptop keyboard itself, it could be a problem with the connection to the motherboard. The keys you mention are all probably connected to the same wire. The part this wire connects to must be faulty. It will be expensive to fix so you'll have to make do with your external keyboard.
