System Restore has completely disappeared
      #380743 - Sun Jan 20 2008 09:07 PM

My dad is using a PC running XP sevice pack two. He had occasion to use his system restore, but when he went to click on it, the egg timer appeared for a second or so and nothing happened. He then went looking for a solution via various forums, all the solutions do not work. When right clicking onto 'my computer', the restore tab has gone - therefore unable to check whether it has been turned off. We have also uninstalled and re-installed SP2 to try to get it working again - no good. There appears to be no reason why this suddenly happened, and seemingly no solution - unless anyone knows differently - please help - it's his safety net!

A list of the attempted fixes so far would be handy so we don't waste time suggesting the same.

Many anti-spyware programs have System Restore fix ability these days.

Does he have SUPERAntispyware installed by any chance?

If so, open the program, click the Preferences button and then the Repair tab.

One of the fixes listed will repair a borked SR registry key if applied.
