HTML Based Links
      #380706 - Sun Jan 20 2008 05:46 PM

HTML Fans,

I am having a classified ad web site built using an off the shelf classified ad software program (Geodisic Solutions) but my web builder is having a little difficulty getting the links search criteria to work properly and I hope that somebody could help or point in the right direction.

The site requirements are to have separate town areas including a link for all areas and also different categories which will have links from the home page and other pages such as ad pages.

The individual town areas should take the viewer to all ads in the selected town area with an all areas option with should display all ads in all areas. The Category links should display all ads in the selected category.

Once a selection is made either town area, all areas or a category, any search from the resulting page should search only in the area or category previously selected.

Unfortunately things are not linking as they should and my Web designer who by his own admission is a HTML fiddler rather than a programmer is not quite there yet although still trying different ways to achieve the required result.

My web designer issued the following information which may give you an indication of the problem he is having or a least how he has to provide the linking. Sorry for the lack of technical information but this kind of thing is over my head although I do understand in bits what he is talking about

'I’ve finally managed to rejig the area filter but its not as links cos the module is a HTML ‘Form’ which then submits the info (in this case which field in the filter to select). The URL is just the same for each area…it’s just the filter that changes.'

I would appreciate some guidance if possible as to the correct way to achieve the correct linking as described above.
