I purchased a DVD on line and downloaded it to my computor when i tried to write it to disk in WMP i keep on getting the msg no cd in H drive and I had put the CD in the drawer , where am I going wrong ? or do I need another program ?.
You said it was DVD and then go on to mention CDs. If it is a DVD you can't use WMP to write them. You need something like Nero.

I have a version of nero i should have mentioned but again when I tried that the version i have did not burn DVD's , it asked me to up-grade Sorry I only gave you half the story .
There is a huge list here of free DVD burning software. I haven't tried any of them so make sure they really are free and not just trial copies. Personally I would upgrade Nero to the full version. I know it costs but it's still the best around.

Nero 8 ultra edition is the best remedy ..its tried and tested software. I also use it to make mp4 files of my conferencings with clients and online seminars.
