Hi
I am trying to install Ubuntu Linux as a dual boot option (Web User issue 179 page 44 / 45).
I have reached to the partitioner stage and chosen the 'guided - resize' option. When I click to continue the process I get a error message 'resize operation failure' and I am taken to the manual screens.
I have defragged, run check disc and run CCleaner in XP before trying to install Ubuntu.
Can anyone suggest the best way forward?

My first post here
Basically in a nut shell google is your friend, I recently dual booted vista and ubuntu with no probs just by using guides i found through googling. The latest issue of webuser wasnt complete in its guide i believe so my suggestion is google around and buy the next webuser :P to complete the guide.
Good Luck!

If you found a guide through Google it would help the OP if you gave him a link to the same place. It would also help if you explained why you think the article in WU was incomplete. What exactly was missing?

Not to sure which one u actually need thegooner317 so posted them all, they are very easy to follow and nicely illustrated
@ greysts i never said it was incomplete totally, dunno if you read webuser but in my latest webuser edition they are makin it like a 3 or 4 part series i.e more then one edition to complete the guide so my suggestion was to wait until the TOTAL guide was complete then go for gold with the dual booting.
Hope that explains what i meant a bit better.

Guided Resize will take the partition used for windows, and shrink it. The free space that is left over is used to install Ubuntu.
Think of it as splitting the hard disk in two, with windows on one side and Ubuntu on the other.
I recently removed Windows and now run Kubuntu 7.10 exclusivley, good luck.
If you have any more questions or qualms I suggest the ubuntu forums as they will be better staffed to help you out - http://www.ubuntuforums.org
