Can anyone please tell me how to find the user name for windows XP. This user name is different from the user accounts. im trying to access my family PC remotely with their concent to install security programs but its asking me for windows user name or that remote PC...anyone know how i can find that out ? (its not the user accounts, ITS THE WINDOWS USER NAME)

Run Belarc Advisor and check the name just under Computer Profile Summary near the top. Edit Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced | User Profiles | Settings

but mate...ur 2nd edited " Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced | User Profiles | Settings " tells me user profiles available on this computer " AB-CD\AB_CD "....so which one is the right one, i mean which is my comp user ID ?
In control panel, in user accounts, i have just 1 account name : AB_CD & a guest account ..thats it...pls advice what my comp user ID will be ? thank you much mate

I'm the only user and both options listed on my PC are the same. I would go with Belarc though if I had to choose.
