My Office Assistant has dissappeared. He was there quite happily doing his thing for years, and then he left home. When I click on help and then on 'show office assistant' nothing happens for a while and then I get a window telling me that Windows has to close. I click on the 'send error report' and then nothing happens. Is there any way I can get him back?
I've tried the 'detect and repair' After waiting a while a window came up stating - The path Microsoft office 2000 premium cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft Office 2000 premium. I don't have the installation disc.
That Window is asking for the installation disc and as you don't have it, you'll not be able to go down that route.
You can try Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Microsoft Office > Change and see if there's a maintenance mode offering a repair. I really think you will also need an installation disc this way to maybe replace corrupt files. You can give it a go.
I'm sure you can live without the irritating office assistant though!
I've tried doing what you suggested, but I got the same message. Thanks for your help though. I'll just have to manage without him. And he didn't even say Goodbye!!!
