Video controller (VGA compatible) Drivers needed??!!
      #377995 - Mon Dec 31 2007 05:13 PM

Hi all. I have a problem on my Evesham laptop with the video card. I am sure that it's on board graphics. When I go into device manager I have the yellow exclamation mark against it. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled with no luck at all. I have also visited the evesham website and had no luck in finding any support, no drivers at all.
I ran a few programs to find the info on the motherboard etc and managed to find the graphics come from a SIS 315 video adapter so visited there website and downloaded the drivers. The drivers couldn't load as it couldnt find the device!
The laptop is running XP with a 2.66 gig chip. The board is "eveshamvale MID2020 A1"
I have searched and searched so now I thought I would ask the experts!
Many thanks in advance,
Jezz

You usually need the mobo driver, rather than the card driver, that's why the SIS one won't work.

Where have you got the name of the board? It wouldn't surprise me if Evesham used someone elses boards. Download and install Everest and find the name of the board.

I think your problem lies with Evesham going into Administration. The old company no longer exists as it was, so the new company have probably put up the new site. I see it has noi support area for customers, which is not good.

Have you tried contacting them at all?

Yeah, the Evesham site was my first port of call with no luck as you can tell from there being no support!!
I have a number on the laptop for tech support which I might give a go this weekend.
I did a search on the motherboard and had a lot more luck searching for "MIDI2020" and found a fair few graphics drivers. I downloaded one name "xabre35753", the numbers being the version of it. I ran it and it seems ok, no exclamation mark in Device Manager but I can only change the res of the screen from the lowest to the highest no inbetween. Also, I cant change the refresh rate. Any other ideas?
Cheers

If you only have the 2 screen res options I don't think it's worked properly. Contacting Evesham may be the only answer, unless you have a reStore CD?
