I currently have a BT Home hub at one ond of my house, with another one as a repeater, which both work fine!
I have a vista laptop which connects through its internal wireless & a XP Home computer whihc connects via ethernet & a XP Pro server in the garage whihc connects through a wireless PCI card, the server has a printer attached whihc i would like the laptop to be able to print from....
I have tries all the suggestions and still to no avail, i used network magic trial for a week to see if that helped, it showed the printer but with a (!) sign on it, meaning it couldnt communicate wiht the printer and said it may be a firewall, i have norton security suite 2007.
Any help at all would be appreciated

And have you allowed two way communications through the firewall for the printer?

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

I added the network MAC address to the allow list i think, i followed network magics instructions for norton on both the xp home and the vista laptop and the xp home could print but not the vista. I would also like to be able to access an external hard drive thtts on the server computer.

Have you checked the firewall security log to see if the printer is being blocked?

I installed the LLTP thing on thr Xp machine and it became visible in the network map on vista aswell as 'thomson' (the samba server on the home hub) however they then dissappeared so i turned off the firewall on the server, however its still not there. They are both in the same workgroup and vista is set to 'private network'
