HOW! Do I remove the square around my folders in my docs?

Hi, Running XP Pro. I see in my documents the folders and Icons have a thin lines square around them, can i remove this and if so how.

Sounds like you are viewing them as Thumbnails
Go to View > Change to List, Icons or Tile.
