I am getting this same error <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.
I see the comments to enter the other i386 stuff however I have not seen where I can actually type in anything. Where do I type this at? I have tried several times to reinstall with my CD but I continue to get the same error.

Insert your Xp disk into the CD drive, choose the boot from command prompt option in the menu that you are presented with

At the command prompt, type in the following:

copy d:\I386\Driver.cab c:\system32\ntoskrnl.exe /v

where d is the letter of your cd drive

press enter

Take the CD out when verified and reboot your computer.

G'day.

Click My Computer/C:Windows/System32/ - and rename ntoskrnl.exe to ntoskrnl-old.exe and press enter.
A copy of ntoskrnl.exe will be added to the system32 folder.
So you will have a copy of ntoskrnl-old.exe and ntoskrnl.exe
If you still have a problem then it's XP CD...

Information supplied in good faith.
You do so at your own risk.

I am closing this thread. The original question was posed by 'theneedtolearn' and we are trying to give him an answer. The thread was then hijacked by brailley and it has become impossible for the OP to get the help he has asked for.

To 'theneedtolearn'. Please start a new thread with your question and we'll try again.

To 'brailley'. Please do not jump into someone else's thread. If you have a question please start your own thread.
