Illuminated Keyboard no longer lighting up
      #376915 - Sat Dec 22 2007 06:46 PM

My Zippy El-715 illuminated keyboard no longer lights up.

Can anyone tell me please, if it's possible to replace the light-bulb (or whatever lights up the keys) with a new one? These keyboards are around £30 to buy, so I don't really want to go to the expense of replacing the whole unit, as it still works without the illumination feature.

Thank you.

I would have thought a keyboard like this would have a function key (Fn) pressed with another to turn the light on or off, or even a 'On/Off' button.

Hi Fusion,

Thanks for responding.

Yes, the keyboard does have an ON/OFF button to activate the illuminating facility but it no longer lights up the keys when it is switched on.

Sorry for suggesting you didn't try the on/off button, but you'd be surprised at how many folks wouldn't think of that!

However, the key board appears to have 'Hyper Blue LED indicators' which may in this case be none working for what ever reason.

I think you may have to ask a friendly repairer, whether it be a PC one or electrician to have a look and check it for you. Should they want to charge you, it may be cheaper to buy a new one.

Best of luck and Merry Christmas.

Hi again Fusion,

Thanks for your guidance. Unfortunately, I don't know any friendly, neighbourhood repairmen, so I guess I'd better ask Santa to bring me a new light-up keyboard.

Merry Christmas to you too, Steve and thank you again for making time to help.

Appreciated!
