Hi all,
As since day one, we get a notification icon in the taskbar when there are new updates from MS. These are installed when we shut down the PC.
Since yesterday though, we keep getting the same update that supposedly gets installed, then the update icon disappears for a little while and then shows itself again!
This is the update:
Installing security update for Microsoft XML Core services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181) (Update 1 of 1)...
On installing, it says the usual "Update successfully installed" and you close the window (nothing about requiring to restart PC).
Can anyone shed any light on a) Why does this same update keep reappearing, b) What's it for, and c) How do I solve it!
Many thanks!

This link . . . >> Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181) < < . . . gives a brief description of what it is.
Try manually downloading from the same page.

Thanks for the quick response!
Right, have followed the link you provided, downloaded and installed the update (it goes through an installation wizard this time), but I'm afraid to say, even after rebooting the PC, the Updates are ready for your computer icon is still there and it's still the same update...

You could try this, no guarantees though:
Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Delete 'MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181) and MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978)' > Reboot > re-install the update either manually or via auto update.
Good luck.

Deleting MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181) and MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978), and then automatically installing the update has.... worked.
I still don't have a clue why this happened though. All previous updates installed with no problems. Just one of those things I guess!
Many thanks for your assistance. Greatly appreciated.
