hi all, ive been getting the b.s.o.d. every 2-3 days just recently. i keep sending error reports to microsoft but the reply just says a driver is at fault. i then used driver verifier, this time the result was :- " IO system verification error in NDIS.sys (wdm driver error 226) [ndis.sys+7010 at bad 30010]" ive tried looking for info on this error but have had no luck. any help to identify the errant driver would be a great help.

G'day.
Reinstall the driver, it can be found in SP2 or copy it from another computer running XP-SP2. But don't over write your original file but rename it NDIS-old.sys

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ndis.sys -- size 179Kb
Remember to rename the original file to ndis-old.sys and DON'T over write it incase the copy one dosn't work and you have to revert back to the original. It may also be best to make a copy of the original file.

hi sandhound, i followed your instructions and found the file, when i renamed it "-old" it made a copy of its self with the origonal name in the same folder. when i copied in the new version of the file i over wrote the copy of the origonal, leaving the origonal(now named "old") and the new version. i then ran the driver verifier and after 5 mins got the same error i started with. i then rebooted and ran verifier again. after more than an hour still no errors. fingers crossed it seems to be fixed, so it only remains for me to thank you for all your very patient help and to wish you a very happy ........easter!
