My computer will not start.
I get a message saying something like:- BROWSEUL.dll missing.
If I click on OK, all I get is the windows screen but there isn’t a single icon on it.
If I click on Control, Alt & Delete I get a list of tasks running, 26 whenever I first open this. I can’t get rid of these.
How do I get on to the computer ?
Can I do a RESTORE and if so how ?
I have Windows XP
Many thanks !

G'day Kholiwe.
If you can use Windows Explorer to navigate and copy/paste files, then you can copy the browseui.dll from the C:\WINNT\System32\dllcache folder and paste it into the C:\WINNT\System32 folder, saying Yes if prompted to overwrite existing file. The dllcache folder is a hidden, system folder, so when you first open Windows Explorer, you will have to go to Tools>Folder Options>View tab and select "Show hidden files and folders" and then deselect "Hide protected operating system files".

Hello
I managed to download that BROWSEUL.dll from the internet on another computer anb save it to disk.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to save it to the broken computer, as I only get a blank, icon free screen at start up
Opening in SAFE MODE wouldn't work
I tried CONTROL ALT DELETE to get to the task manager, but don't know really what to do then. If I click run, the computer asks something like 'open file with what ?'
Any more help would be appreciated.
thanks !

Put it onto a removable USB memory device or floppy.
Open Task Manager and click New Task.
Type cmd and press Enter.
In the command prompt, type copy a:\browseui.dll c:\windows\system32
Thisd is assuming you use a floppy. If it's a USB device you need to substitute a for whatever letter is assigned.

Thanks for that Richie
I did that, saving from the D: drive
All seemed great but for some reason I couldn't use the keyboard to write anything on Internet Explorer .. although everything was OK on Word or Excel.
Eventually I mangaged to get on to google and the windows site and re-downloaded IE7
Everything now seems to be OK
thanks again
