System Restore has been deactivated
      #375862 - Fri Dec 14 2007 03:12 PM

Good afternoon,

Tried to do a system restore and this messsage came up.....

"System restore has been deactivated by a group directive, to reactivate contact the administrator"

....I tried to do one as AVG advised me it had found a Trojan, which has been put in quarantine, used all the other antispyware tools and everthing seems fine, but how do I reactivate my system restore in case I need it another day.

Annie

Is the above the exact wording of the message?

If it's not, I suspect you're still infected.

If it is, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore and change the settings in the left pane. If you're denied access, you're still infected or you need to change a registry key.

Post back here either way.

Hi there,

Well it`s translated from Spanish so it`s as near as possible!! I was denied access following the steps you gave me. Just had a fresh install 3 weeks ago??

Fresh install 3 weeks ago, hmm!

It sounds as though you still have the infection, go to the HiJackThis section of the forum, read the rules and post a log, together with a description of your problem.

EDIT: Before going to the HJT forum have a look at the system restore service and check if it's running/started, i.e. Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Services and scroll down to it. If it's not started, start it and then try setting up system restore as per my previous post.

Right I`ll do that. Since the fresh reinstall I hadn`t of course looked to see if the system restore was there: Going over to HJT.

Thanks so far
