Removing the background "Gimp"
      #375588 - Wed Dec 12 2007 09:37 AM

I am trying to remove an image's background using the "Gimp". Trouble is when i get to the part when you have to click on "Add alpha channel" it is greyed out?
Can anyone help me please. Thanks in advance. JB

With PNG files, sometimes it's the fact that the file already contains an alpha channel, thus not allowing you to add another one.

Also check that the mode of the PNG is RGB and not Indexed (Image > Mode > RGB)

Try following your usual steps but without adding an alpha channel. Hope this helps.
