printer ink
      #375407 - Mon Dec 10 2007 05:08 PM

Hi,
Not having used my HP printer for quite some time, when I tried it would not print. It only gave one faint page and then nothing after that. It seems as though the ink flow from both the colour and black cartridges have dried up as there was plenty of ink in them. Is there anyway of getting them to print again.?
Thanks for any suggestions.
JDA

Yes. somewhere in the printer menu, probably under maintainance, there will be the option to do head clean, possibly even a deep clean or similar wording.
Run that, following the printer instructions, and that should clear the heads ok.

G'day jda.

If no joy after running bunglers' suggestion, it may be the cartridges have expired. A lot of cartridges are date sensitive (inbuilt chip).

Thanks guys. Sorry for delay - have been away. No joy with suggestions, though can't find route to clean printer heads from toolbox. Strangely it will print out a test page from the printer properties dialogue - but only once. The second time it is very faint and then nothing after that. The connections seem ok and I have reloaded the driver but no joy. A mystery!
Any more suggestions welcome as I am reluctant to replace cartridges if they are ok.
Thanks

After printing preferences is it similar to this ?

ESET Smart Security - Maxthon Browser - Calendar of Updates - Folding@Home - RSS Bandit - HostsMan - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Glary Utilities - Revo Uninstaller - Secunia PSI

G'day jda.

To clean heads - control panel click printer and then properties.

Looked under properties in printer but no option to clean heads under any of the tabs - general, sharing, ports, advanced, colour management. device settings.

No, it does not look like this. Going through options under printer preferences and the tab 'services' it tells me under 'service this device' that the application could not be started and to re install printer driver. This i did - with the same result. Puzzling how it will print one test page.
All works fine when using the HP 720c printer but the 3940 is causing a problem somewhere.
