Epson D92 printer
      #375266 - Sun Dec 09 2007 02:40 PM

I semi recently bought the above printer for use with my wife's pc and laptop.

However, firstly the black cartridge was almost completely used-up by the initial setting up procedure, so I bought new cartridges from Choice Stationery, from whom I've bought compatibles in the past.
On attempting to install a black cartridge, I got an error message that it wasn't recognised. I contacted Choice, and after a long drawn-out period of hassle, eventually got another set of cartridges, and also an admission that they had had problems with the cartridges for the D92, even although they're the same ones as for the D78 which has been out for longer.

At the first attempt of printing, there were gaps and as if the printer was maybe 'skipping', or partly missing lines in the document. I've now got round to investigating the situation, and installed the printer on MY laptop. Initially had a huge load of hassle with Epson Status Manager, but eventually got it printing, with the same problems as my wife had experienced. I cleaned the heads and after 3 cleans it was considerably better. However, on the most recent document of 42 lines on an A4 sheet, there are 8 lines spread throughout the document which have a faint white line through the full length of the line.

So...................... printing experts, is this a problem with the cartridge or the printer?

I have to say that the printer has had very little use, most of the printing having been tests, and I'm quite surprised that the heads should have needed cleaning in the first place!

Thanks in anticipation.

G'day Supatramp.

Was the printer brought new or secondhand (refurb).

The streaking is normaly a bunged up jet, unless ink has capileried onto the printhead, printed circuit tracks.

It might just need deep cleaning a few times.
