Do I need a WI-FI router ?
      #375240 - Sun Dec 09 2007 12:05 PM

Hello I have had a links Ethernet cable/dsl router on NTL now virgin meada and am running two Pcs and a xbox from it. It is doing its job well, however my daughter is getting a laptop for Christmas and I now have a archos 605 wi-fi . Is there a simple way to get a wi-fi connection without having to change my wired router . I know my son has a Nintendo wi-fi connected to the down stairs pc and he is doing this with a Nintendo USB wi-fi connector. But when I go to connect my archos 605 wi-fi to this its is showing there is a connection but its hidden . I don’t know maybe this is because its just for Nintendo only ? But what I am thinking if there is a USB wi-fi for Nintendo is there such a thing that could do this but work with my Archos wi-fi and daughters lap top without the expense of changing my wired router , Hope someone knows what I am trying to say here as is it does look confusion ?

You've already got the router, so a wireless access point plugged into a spare Ethernet port will do the job.

Some to choose from here

Hi and thanks that sound good to me. Thought I might have to change my router. There is spare Ethernet ports on the back of it. Can you or someone please put a link or tell me what i should be looking to buy to plug in to one of these spare ports to get a wi-fi connection from it thanks corsur.
