Hi
I have used Outlook Express for many years, but in the past 6 months or so it has slowed right down.
When checking for new messages it can take up to a minute to do so, when before it would do it in a flash. Any ideas please what might be causing this.
Thanks,
Phil

Not really, maybe 20 or so, we then delete these when we have finished with them.

Sorry to butt in, but I found the following elswhere. It might be worth a try before you start to go through more complex procedures.
Quote:
OE gradually slows down This is almost always a sign of folders in need of compaction and/or a fragmented disk. Clean up your newsgroups, compact your folders, then run Disk Defragmenter (Start| Programs| Accessories| System Tools).

Hi
I just thought I'd tell you that I have found the route of the problem. When you have messages rules that don't download certain emails because of the email address or subject etc. these email just stay on your server, hence after downloading these emails to another email program this cleared the backlog and now OE is now as fast as it was when it was new!
