Talk Talk
      #374773 - Wed Dec 05 2007 06:46 PM

Another evening with the Wireless connection acting up. Sick of talking to talk talk in India and being told that my router is the problem.
I have an Isine 11G ADSL2/2+ Router. They keep telling me that the DNS settings need changing in my router, but unfortunately there is no option to change these settings as it gets the settings automatically from what I can gather through the Control Panel/network connecions/ TCP/IP properties/ settings/ Obtain Ip address and Obtain DNS address automatically . All I had to do with the router was select AOL and all the settings are Automatic.

I used this to access my orange broadband and never had a problem.

If I unpower then repower the router everything starts working again, it s just such a pain in the *rs*. Any help out there

The router doesn't GET DNS settings from anywhere, it allocates them to your PC via DHCP. That path to the TCP/IP properties is for your computer. It is telling the PC to get it's IP address and DNS from the router. All routers have an Admin mode which you enter via your browser with an address something like 192.168.1.1 and if you are being told that the DNS settings are wrong you need to change them in the router.

The answer to the problem given in that link was to download the latest firmware for your router. That gave the user to opportunity to enter the DNS information. Have you tried that yet?
