I have recently installed the Comodo firewall on the recommendation of a number of magazines. However, when I try to start Firefox, nothing happens - I have to uninstall the firewall again. I have tried answering the questions in all manner of combinations, the result being the same each time - nothing! IE7 works fine with it. Is it something easy to fix, or will I be best just forgetting about it. Thanks

The fix offered in that thread appears to be this - Quote:
It seems like this is related to a bug in 8.3 file name format. We have fixed the issue. We will issue an upate(hopefully this week) which will fix many bugs inckuding this one.
Or are you suggesting this - Quote:
Problem was solved by deleting all rules for Firefox, rebooting and then starting FF and carefully accepting the first Defense+ query and then choosing "Treat program as... Browser" the first time that popped up.
is the answer.
In either case it's hardly satisfactory, is it?

I must be lucky as I have had no problems with Comodo V. 3 and Firefox. Usually problems seem to make a point of seeking me out. However, when I installed Comodo, I did it with 'Defense+' temporarily inactivated (as suggested in a Comodo forum) until I know more about it. Perhaps that has some bearing on the problem.
