Replacement Dell laptop power lead
      #373676 - Mon Nov 26 2007 04:57 PM

Good evening, my dog has eaten my power cable for my dell laptop. I been to the dell website but cannot find the matching cable using the products code. According to the invoice the item no. is 450-10579 and it is a D- series 65W AC adapter. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement / what it is now called with dell? I have been trying to get them on the phone but it is not easy!

Thank you

How badly chewed is it? If the power "brick", connector, plug and at least some of the cable is intact it is entirely possible to repair it instead of forking out for a new one. Just need some tools and common sense to do it.

If it's badly damaged or you don't fancy doing DIY on electronics you could try looking on Dell for the model of your computer instead of the power cable. YOu might find the cable falls under its accessories

Hi there, thank you for your reply. She did a pretty good number on it. The wire inside is like a Russian doll - there is a layer of wire encased in plastic then inside that another layer of wire encased in plastic - no change of fixing it. I have spoken to dell and they want £50 so I have looked on amazon and found the exact same one for £25 so I am going to order that.

Also meant to add that it is the lead from the brick to the laptop and not the plug to the brick - that would be to easy!!! You can get that bit for almost nothing online.

I'm a fan of wire strippers and electrical tape myself, but glad to know you're getting your part ordered. Wise to shop around like you have as well

Check back if there's any more trouble,

I found a company on amazon that have delivered it today. I only ordered yesterday! It was half the price of dell
