Box Wiring and O2 Broadband
      #373253 - Fri Nov 23 2007 11:25 AM

Hi everyone, first time post here (new member) hope I'm in the right place to post this

Can anyone tell me please if there are any diagrams out there to show how the wiring should be in a mains BT Box as I have started experiencing problems with my line my old phone when soley plugged into the mains will ring but when I answer there is no one there and no dial tone, I bought another phone to test if it was the phone and that one when solely plugged in doesnt even ring and there is no dial tone, I don't know if a wire has come loose, there are only four wires and only two are connected to the points the blue and orange wire.

Have rung BT and they have tested my line and said there's no fault on the line and that they could get an engineer to visit and if it turned out that it was my equipment meaning my phone I would have to pay £ 99.00, have even tested my two phones at work on a line that I know is fine and they work.

This may be a silling question but I also have O2 broadband and the usual set up from the mains box is that coming out of the mains is a splitter so I can use both broadband and phone at same time and from there my wireless router and phone is plugged in, my broadband wouldn't be affecting my landline voice making and receiving calls facility would it, have tested everthing soley in mains socket and nothing works, theres no possibility that my line has grabbed onto the broadband somehow and disabled my voice capability is there !!

Thanks

Lucy

Hi.

You could look at this ... http://www.wppltd.demon.co.uk/WPP/Wiring/UK_telephone/uk_telephone.html

and maybe this ... http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php?Number=341193

As for your broadband and phone splitter, I hope the splitter is a filter otherwise i believe that you could have problems with your b/b each time you use your phone.

Dave.
