Have just done a clean install of Windows and everything gone fine until i try connect wirelessly , am using a Belkin router which is set up OK , but when i try to connect wirelessly i get the message."Windows cannot configure this wireless connection.If you have enabled another program to congigure this wireless connection please use that software." As far as i know i have not enabled any other software.Any help please .Cheers WW.

It's probably caused by Windows configuration conflicting with your adapter's configuration.
Go to Wireless Zero Configuration in Administration Tools > Services then if Stop is there, click it and then change Startup to Disabled.

Think i have sorted it i have a Fujitsu Laptop and it has a program called Oddesey which has something to do with networking , i disabled that and it appeared to have worked.Just to be safe i will also follow your instructions, but i cannot find admin tools , am running XP.Cheers WW.

to quickly get to the point in question, just hit Start... Run... and enter "services.msc" without quotes. Tap the enter key and you'll be able to look for that service.
Administrative controls are in the Control Panel

You need either Odyssey or WZC, don't disable both!

Couldn't find Admin tools because i had control panel in a different view and it didn't show it, have found it now but will leave alone as reccomended as wireless is working ok now.Cheers WW.

Hi, Have a ACER Aspire 3000 with W XP Home two years old. At the moment I cannot get any Wi Fi signals at any airports when travelling. This anoying when wating at airport trying to log on to airport wifi system. It worked fine six months ago. Have a daughter who use the laptop when i'm home. Ave tryed to make a new connection but no success. Have tryed to reinstall the software and gotr the message that no better software available. What is it that I do wrong? Anyone with a good ide!

You should have started your own post, not hijack this one!
Anyway:
1. Try uninstalling the adapter in Device Manager and reboot to let Windows reinstall it. It will uninstall whether you have wi-fi built in or if you're using an external adapter.
2. Does your model have a switch or key combination on the keyboard that enables wireless?
