MP3 or AAC
      #372493 - Sat Nov 17 2007 04:52 PM

I am planning on putting all my music onto an external hard drive and want to know which is the best format for saving them into so as I dont lose sound quality?.
Also which uses less hard disc space?
Cheers.

1. AAC will not reduce sound quality as far as I know, it just compresses the file.

2. AAC files, if you look, are abolsutely tiny!! So yes, AAC files will be the best format for saving onto your external hard drive. HOWEVER, if you plan on playing them off your external hard drive, you will need to have an AAC player as you can't just double click and let them play as you're probably aware (as they turn into data files)

3. If you are planning to play them off your ext hard drive, keep them as MP3's. Personally I have everything as AAC these days!! Save's tons of space!!
