I have just been on the Microsoft Update site and downloaded a handful of updates on my laptop. For some strange reason it now won't connect to the internet, I have tried rebooting(?) the router for 3 minutes, I have also made sure the ssid and network keys match but it just keeps saying 'Limited or no connectivity' and that it cannot renew my ip address, the other laptop and my desktop pc are all fine and will connect though. Any ideas on what I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Were there any hardware updates included in the Microsoft downloads?

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

Yes on the optional updates there was and I think it was an update for an adaptor or something.

That's the network adaptor to which is connected your ethernet cable and thus your router. Have you re-booted that PC since downloading the updates?

I had similar problems with my linksys wireless network router; firstly checked the cables/phone line for obvious problems - nothing. Updated the latest drivers - nothing. tested the hardware at a friends house - worked .
Finally, i removed the hardware, rebooted my pc, reinstalled the hardware and plugged back in - internet lives once again!
Good luck =]

Yes Greysts I re-booted a few times, I was going round in circles like I usually am when things go pear-shaped with the network but I did a system restore and it seems fine now. It is annoying isn't it womersleydesign, trouble is I never seem to get all 3 pc's to stay connected for any length of time, the main problem is my dad's laptop, is it quite slow and you have to press the wlan button to connect, this is quite annoying as it doesn't always work. Many thanks to you both for your help, heres hoping it's all plain-sailing from here
