Hi, I recently bought a Netgear router. I was hoping to use it to connect my main PC via a cable (running XP) and a laptop wirelessly. (Vista) The wireless connection is made but won't get internet access. If I plug the ethernet cable into the laptop, it connects to the internet (wirelessly!)and will then allow me to unplug the cable and hook up to the internet on both machines? This is all OK until I switch the laptop off and try to get on line wirelessly again, when I have to do the whole process again. I've deleted any dial up connections from the troublesome laptop. It appears to be receiving bytes but not sending them? Any help greatly appreciated. I'm sure there's just a tick in the box I'm missing
Actually all seems fine now. I stumbled across a "runonce" page which was to do with the first time set up for internet explorer. Removing the cable did allow me to surf as normal on both machines, one wirelessly. There was wep set up through the router. Thanks for you help
