diferent drives on ide cable
      #371883 - Tue Nov 13 2007 12:19 PM

Is it possible to put both a dvd drive and a hard drive on the one ide cable? If it is, is it possible to get an ide cable with a larger gap between the drive connectors?

It is theoretically possible to put a DVD drive and hard disk on the same cable but you may have problems when it comes to burning DVDs. That process requires a huge amount of data to be transferred between PC and DVD and if you've got a hard disk on the same cable you may well get data failures. You could end up with lots of lovely shiny coasters on which to stand your coffee cup.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
