hi this is a simple keyboard problem, which is getting me stuck. recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall xp home. since then think the keyboard recons it's american or foriegn anyway. i've unistalled it and reinstalled it, it's plug and play and i've not got any disc to install. oh it's a wireless microsoft multimedia 1.0a keyboard. tried going through control panel to properties but have failed to make the change. the problem is this (i'm typing on it now, so it's not a biggie) i want the @ symbol by pressing shift + ' but i get ". i can get the @ but only by pressing shift + 2 which is supposed to give ". basically these two are swapped round. can anyone untangle them for me?

Changing Keyboard Layout Settings in Windows XP
To change your settings from a US to a UK keyboard layout when running Windows XP:
* Go to Control Panel * Open Regional and Language Options * Select Languages * Click on Details * If English (United Kingdom) is not listed under "Installed Services" then: o Click Add o Select English (United Kingdom) as the input language o Click OK (You do not need to change the "Keyboard layout/IME" setting if you have a UK keyboard. If you have a US keyboard but you want to have English (UK) as the keyboard input language, change it to "United States") * Select English (United Kingdom); it will become bold * Click OK Text Services and Input Languages window * Click OK Regional and Language Options window * Restart your computer for changes to take effect
Most notably this will fix the error of the reversal of @ and ", which occurs when using the wrong settings.
found this on forums .......... d'oh
