I wasn't sure where to put this but my 10 year old son wants to start programming, something completely out of my range of experience. Any suggestions on how to start? Books? internet? programs? something else? He's bright for a 10 year old, but would still need something of an appropriate level. Thanks in advance.
It's unlikely a ten-year old would grasp the principles of, even, an easy high level language like Visual Basic.
However, he should be able to understand and write simple HTML code which will give him confidence because of its instant results. The benefits are: there are not too many commands; they have meaningful names and he would enjoy seeing his ‘websites’ being displayed in a browser window.
