I assume you mean the notification on the Start button? It's not Task manager, but read this on how to disable it.

You clearly DO have some new hardware installed but it hasn't been installed properly which is why Windows keeps giving you that message. Press the Windows key and the Pause/Break key together to open System Properties. Click on Hardware then Device Manager. Do you have any entries with a large yellow ? or ! against them?

Are they under any particular heading in the list?

Sorry... [Re: greysts]

They are under imaging devices,my camera is on there, and that works o.k.
The scanner is not,and everytime,I go through with the instalation, whether,I use the disc that came with it or download from their site,I get the blue screen?
Have those yellow alerts got to be removed first before,I try install again?

Those yellow marks mean that the device isn't installed properly. First thing to try is highlight each entry, right click then Delete. When they are all gone, reboot the computer and Windows will try to reinstall them. With a bit of luck it will find the right drivers without any input from you. If you still get the errors we'll try a different tack.

Sorry I don't understand that message at all. Remember you are sitting in front of your computer, I'm not. I need a complete and exact report of the situation if I am to have any any hope of sorting this out. This

failed to uni-install

is meaningless.
