Hi All, I am thinking about trying networking through the household ring main. Has anybody got this setup and what (homeplugs) are you using and what are your views ideas etc etc. Thanks in advance. M

I bought these and they work fine for me. You can just connect an ethernet cable to either end and that's it, they work. Or you can use the CD and add encryption in case of data 'leakage'.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

hi RichieP, thanks for your reply, they seem very reasonable at that price.. How many homeplugs do you need to be able to run 2 PC's from the ring main . How does the router connect to the ring main ?? thanks once again M

That one I linked to has 2 in the box. You need one by the router. Plug in an ethernet cable from one of the router's ports into the homeplug. Plug the other one in near to your computer and connect it via ethernet. You should be able to purchase a single one to plug in another socket elsewhere to also receive the signal.

hi RichieP, another quick question.. can you use your homeplugs upstairs and downstairs at the same time, or is the upstairs on a different ring main to the downstairs ?? cheers M

You should be able to use them at the same time, although I'm not sure how good they are at routing the signal to different sources at the same time.
