I am still using the same processor that I had when my PC was originally built for me 7 years ago so am thinking of upgrading the processor which will probably mean upgrading the motherboard as well.
My question is can someone double check that This Processor is compatible with this motherboard and that I can still use my existing memory ?
please could you also confirm that if I were to change the processor and motherboard would I need to reinstall windows XP or not?
TIA

This is a help forum not a nanny forum! Why can't you check if the CPU, RAM and motherboard are compatible?
I'll answer the last question. It's highly unlikely that the existing installation of XP will boot with a different motherboard. You may be lucky and get away with a 'repair' but it will have to be activated.

Thanks for your cheeky reply, however if you'd bothered to read the post properly then maybe you would not have been so cheeky.
Firstly this is a help and advice forum and I was asking for advice, I was not asking you to go out and buy the components and fit them for me.
Secondly i clearly asked for someone to DOUBLE check as I had already checked and me being a cautious person wanted to make sure of their compatibility before I bought them. I am sure that many more knowledgeable people will be able to tell much more quickly and easily than myself.
I have been a member of this forum for some time and have always found the help and advice given of a very high standard, however in my opinion it is replies like yours which will destroy the integrity of this forum.
If someone does not want to help then DON'T REPLY.

If you haven’t the gumption to decide which components are compatible you are going to have some trouble putting them together.
Incidentally, I answered the main question regarding whether XP would boot.
I omitted to answer whether an OEM version of XP could be legally reinstalled after the motherboard and CPU had been changed.

G'day DeadParrot2004.
XP will only remain active for 3 days, you can try I-Net activation, but phone activate and explain why the HDD is mounted to a different MoBo etc may be needed.
OEM has to stay with the computer it was shop installed on. Retail can be reinstalled to another computer, providing it still remains the only installation.
If I am wrong I'll hold me hands up to the fact..
