A few weeks back I lost connection to the internet so I decided on doing a test via my trusty old BT Voyager 2100 (I never installed their Orangebox) it reported to me that the fault was at their end and NOT MY END.
I called them up to see how long it would take them to rectify their issue, when I was told it was my fault and that I needed to go as far as uninstalling Windows, prior to which I was told I need to uninstall Internet Explorer, even though I do not use that as a browser.
As the guy on the phone was reading from a script and had no grasp of what I was telling him, even when I said, "This is YOUR fault, not mine" I decided to write them a lenghty letter asking for my MAC code and I have since changed providers.
Has the outtage affected any other users?
I have heard several stories as to what's happened, from exchange issues (which clearly wasn't for me) to them upgrading their servers, but have not heard from the horses mouth what the actual cause of the outtages for so many users was.

I believe TFC has had some major problems with Orange recently.

I'm with Orange and, touch wood, everything has been fine, maybe a localised issue.

The problem has affected Liverpool, Newcastle, London and Manchester, although I'm in Greater Manchester and not far from Lancashire so it affected that area too.
I'm glad you're ok with them and I hope you don't get affected.
It would be nice to hear from other Orange users too.

I am an Ornage user and am still waiting for them to sort problems. The first couple of months was good. Then connection problems.
They were trying to resolve a line fault as I was hardly able to connect, and even when I did it was for a few minutes. I still have poor service, but now have an even odder problem in that I can only view very few websites - which I may add occurred after I had reset somethings they asked me to. Like google, and some others. Anything like hotmail comes up with a "cannot be displayed/DNS error". Have spent weeks of resetting and resintalling things and have only now been told I will get a call back! Yet I can view all websites via dial up...
In the mean time service is still poor!!

How are you connecting? Do you use a modem or router?
I now have 4 customers of mine that are having problems with Orange. One was down to a faulty router. The others, Orange admit they are having line issues and have promised to fix them within 5 days. That was 2 weeks ago.
This is the Wolverhampton area by the way.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Hi. it's a usb modem. I wrote that message you just replied to about the NTU thingy. Gonna try that out and see what happens. apparently they result from my line test didn't give them any clues... and the amount of times i can connect per week has risen... so i'm touching wood. Have been promised a callback... with regards to the newer problem of not being able to access web pages though... (am in LDN)

I thought I was going mad!!!! I have had no MSM, hotmail or a host of other sites for a few days now. I was cursing vista which has never caused me any problems before! I am now suspecting it is orange as I just tried an old PC running xp and that is showing the same symptoms.
Any ideas on the best number to call Orange to try and see if there is any info? P.s. I had to use my mobile phone (not on orange) to access hotmail to register for this site!!!!

I binned Orange, as I couldn't be doing with their "fobbing off" excuses anymore. I have no regrets leaving them.
