cannot access DVD drive
      #370132 - Mon Oct 29 2007 10:49 PM

I need a little help with my laptop.

I read in this weeks webuser of someone who could not access their cd drive but when they went into the configurations the results showed that it was still being recognised by the laptop but had a big yellow exclamation mark over it. As a result of this one reader wrote in and explained that they would need to go into start/run and type in 'regedit' before making key adjustments to the system registry.

i have have the same problem with my CD drive and thought I woud try the same option to see if i could get it working again. However when I type in regedit into the start/run menu I keep getting the message 'regedit is not a valid win32 application'

can anyone help me with this please? Am I making a basic mistake here or is it a major problem? All I need is to get my DVD drive to work. The system that is operating on the laptop is windows XP

many thanks
