Is there a way to create a list of programs and favorites.>..? In case I need to reformat.I have many programs I have downloaded free from the Internet, so of course I do not have the program discs.Prior to reformating I have to write down all my programs and favorites so I can replace them all. This is a real pain....

You can use 'Print Screen' to capture folder details then print it out but you really need to get properly organised if you intend to format/install more frequently than Mr. Average.
1. Create a folder named 'Downloaded Programs' and make sure all your downloads are stored in it. Also, make sure you have an off-line copy of the folder and ‘Export’ your Favorites.
2. Create a document that outlines the reinstallation sequence. Once you’ve done it, it will need minor tinkering when different software/hardware/installations are used. I have been doing this for years and you may consider it is OTT but it has only gradually changed from Win95. Make it along these lines which is the beginning of the last actual installation I made :
Win Server 2008 RC0 SP1 install on Dell laptop (80Gb, 2 partitions, Vols 105E-4006, EC92-415E) Product Key AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD-EEEEE
01. Set BIOS to boot from DVD/CD drive. Delete and create partitions and format as required. Install from DVD (30 minutes) 02. Install missing Roles: File Services, WEB Server (IIS) 03. Install missing Features: Desktop Experience, Group Policy Mngt, Remote Assist, SMTP, PowerShell, Windows Recovery Disk, Win Server Bkup, Wi-Fi Lan 04. Install drivers for Graphics, Ethernet and Sound from external HDD number 4 05. Set up Mail and options including signature, enable spelling, Times New Roman 12pt and Contacts with their Pictures 06. Disable Services : Tablet PC, Remote registry 07. Run gpedit.msc to disable Display Shutdown Event Tracker 08. Turn UAC off and turn off the Protected Mode of Internet Options, my hack number 89 09. Set up Folder options and IE options including Importing Favorites and Cookies 10. Create Home page and share drive D, Administrator folder and printer. Join AtHome network 11. Turn off Hibernate by running POWERCFG -H OFF 12. Install Ccleaner, Everest, Acrobat 8, PPViewer, WDViewer, XLViewer, CrossLoop and VistaBootPro 13. etc. my last entry is number 36.
