Port Blocking
      #369611 - Wed Oct 24 2007 11:31 PM

Has anyone any ideas of how to get round port blocking? Vodafone refuse to unblock port 25. Do I need an SMTP proxy server or something? If so does anyone know of a free (or cheap) easy to use one?

Why do you need it unblocked? I don't quite see where Vodaphone come into the picture?

I want to send emails via my own domain provider's server. I use Vodafone At Home broadband but they won't allow forwarding via their server

I don't know of any provider who will. It would leave their own servers wide open to infection and use as spam bots. It would also lose them money. Sorry but I don't think you'll find a way round it.

Another solution is to get your own domain name and rent a webserver and get it se to use port 2525 for outgoing mail, most ISP seem to allow this port. I know AOL and wanadoo work ok on this.
A name will cost about £10ish for around 2 years and you can get accounts for just email at about £15ish a year.
Might be worth a look

Cheers
