Since I installed firefox I kept getting lots of tracking cookies and it was getting on my nerves so I found out the solution to do this was to type About:Config then type Network.cookie.cookieBehavior and double click Network.cookie.cookieBehavior and change its value.
From this website (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.cookie.cookieBehavior) I read:
Possible values and their effects:
0 - All cookies are allowed. (Default) 1 - Only cookies from the originating server are allowed. 2 - No cookies are allowed. 3 - Cookies are allowed based on the cookie P3P policy (Mozilla Suite only).
I have tried 1 and 3, and they both seem to work but I have one problem.
After changing this if I got onto a website that can automatically remember my log in details like hotmail or these forums, everytime I close the browser it doesnt remember the information when I visit websites again.
Please help and thanks

Ive also tried changing it back to default and it still doesn't work and I have to keep putting my log in details into websites even when I have asked them to remember them!

A few things can be tried:
* Have a read of this page to see if anything applies: http://kb.mozillazine.org/User_name_and_password_not_remembered
* If not, go to 'Start (button) Run' and type firefox -p into the box and press OK. Create a new (additional) Profile for test purposes, import your bookmarks into it from the Profile you are using at present and see if the problem still exists while running with the test Profile. If it does, perhaps some external security program is restricting the saving of password or 'form' information.
* Perhaps try resetting all user preferences by choosing that option while starting Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode (shortcut in the Windows 'Start' menu). You will have to set toolbar layout and other preferences up again if you do this but it might be worth a try even so.
I've found that restricting cookies can cause trouble with some sites, so don't I do it. But then I'm not too worried about tracking cookies. They get deleted periodically, along with other cookies picked up from general browsing. CCleaner has a feature that can delete unwanted cookies while saving the ones you'd like to keep for login details and regularly visited sites.

Thanks, I was thinking about making a new profile so ill try some of the things you have suggested later and then see what happens and reply.
The reason I get worried is that when im going through my mail and stuff I don't like the thought someone could track my password and monitor my activities. I just don't like the thought of it.

There is a chance with e-mail that if you read it with HTML enabled (as opposed to reading it in plain text) you could be letting spammers know that you have opened an e-mail. There are also other factors worth consideration. These are all well described here. This is nothing to do with browser tracking cookies though and I can't see how your passwords would be compromised.
Tracking cookies track your movements around the Internet in order to serve up advertisements that might be of interest to you. Again, I can't see that password security would be endangered.

I just made a new profile and works fine now. Do I need to delete my old profile or should I just leave it?
Thanks

I'd keep the old Profile for a day or so, just in case there was anything needed from it. After that, I think it could be deleted using the Profile Manager dialogue box. I can only think you'd need the bookmarks though. Have you imported them from the old Profile?
It's as well to store a copy of Bookmarks.html somewhere away from the Profiles folder. It can come in useful sometimes.

Yes I have copyed my bookmarks over. I went into the application data folder and copyed them from one profile to another.
I will also follow your suggestion of copying them somewhere else and I think I will put them on my memory stick as a back up.
Im now using the add on Cookie Safe to block some cookies but before I kept getting cookies from DoubleClick so I have put the doubleclick.com website in the cookies to block.

OK, well done ...but if you do get any trouble with some sites not loading that you can't put down to general Internet problems, it might be worth letting cookies run unrestricted to see if that solves the problem.

Im still having problems with firefox cookies!
After using it to surf the net for just one day I ran a spybot scan and picked up the following:
AdRevolver,DoubleClick,FastClick,Mediaplex,Tradedoubler & WebTrends Live.
It wouldn't of bothered me to much but when I looked at the description of AdRevolver it said Uses information about web surfing that could include any information like accounts and passwords.
I also looked at some of the others and they had similar descriptions.
I really need to sort this out.
Thanks

Have a read of this thread on the Mozilla forums. It may give reassurance about the function (or limitations) of tracking cookies and suggests ways they can be handled if they worry you.
Also, perhaps you could consider using an extension designed to handle cookies (click the 'see all reviews' link on the page).

I am currently using a extention to handle cookies called cookie safe but I still don't understand why I have this problem when most people don't.
Could it be because I dont have SpybotBlaster? Because I know a lot of people use that and could it cause any problems if I install it as I am already running Norton Antivirus & Webroot SpySweeper?
Im also running Ad Aware SE & Spybot.
Thanks
