computer crashes?
      #369343 - Mon Oct 22 2007 09:56 PM

Hi all , Tonight I have had several PC crashes ,there are no sounds its just as though power has been turned of, a screen appears at ramdon that is in several shades of blue and white in columns down the whole screen across there are numerous black wiggly lines close together (Its not the screen of death though)then the screen changes to black, the keyboard shows lights on the very right were the caps lock indicator is marked A 1 F on my key board its the 3 that light up during a boot up. I can reboot if I hold the ON button down a couple seconds though. my immediate thoughts are video card but thats a total guess.
I am thinking of doing a system restore but would appreciate some expert advice first.
Cheers and thanks,

My first thought would be to check the video card.

First thing is to try updating the drivers. What is the card?

If you're not sure, download and run Everest Home Edition

You may need to run it in Safe Mode if you can't use the computer properly.

Click on Display on the left side and then PCI.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

RichieP,
Thanks for your suggestion I do have Everest installed but it always happens to me, as soon as I get someone to help the problem goes away same as my car take it to the Garage and unable to find a fault, Still I suppose it is good news, After some thinking I was suspicious of a program that was installed with a Ashampoo product (Office)I purchased called Music Match Jute Box as it seemed to have the same colours involved.
I have just now uninstall ed it as I did not want it in any case so perhaps it was the cause,
many thanks
