Hi Guys. I have a cable modem BB connection for my desktop. I want to be able to use a laptop (on my BB account) without going wireless or using a router. Is it possible to just unplug the Lan cable from my desktop and use the Lan port on my Laptop to set it up with a BB connection?. Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers.

Yes, it's as simple as that. Because the laptop and the BB modem won't 'recognise' each other straight away you may need to reboot the laptop after you've connected the cable. On the other hand it might pick up the signal without a reboot. Try it and see. Don't forget to liven up your ethernet port on the laptop as it may be disabled.
If you install a second NIC (Network Interface Card) in your desktop PC you could use a cross-over ethernet cable from that to your laptop and set up internet sharing via the desktop.
