I was just sorting out message rules for the latest load of spam in my inbox when I discovered that one of the emails (Viagra - what else?!) I was about to create the message rule for (to immediately delete on receipt) appeared to be from my own email address! When you highlight the offending email then click on message rules, after creating the message rule and just before you action it, a box comes up and says: Are you sure you want to create message rule to delete future emails from the sender myemailaddy@tiscali.co.uk
Has my email addy been hijacked in some way? I thought I read about something like this in the latest Webuser but I can't find the item again.
That's how a lot of spam gets through. Your own email address is being spoofed by the senders of spam, it isn't really coming from there. Trying to create message rules that are based on senders addresses will be a never ending task as the senders address will never be the same from one email to the next. You would find it a lot easier to install some spam blocking software and let it do the work for you.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
