Hi, I have 3 computers all connected to a Belkin wired/wireless modem. Main one is wired the other is wireless( both running XP) and the laptop is wireless(running vista home basic). I also have a network hard-drive(NAS) connected to the modem.
My problem is that the Laptop cannot see any share files on any of the other two computers or the NAS drive, but the other two comps can see each others files including the NAS and can share... No Problem!! but cannot see the laptops shares or files and also it does not show up in the Computer Workgroup.
Can anyone Help as to what I'm doing wrong...PLEASE!!
Thanks
Chris

Sounds like the laptop is in a different workgroup.
Right-click My Computer > Properties.
Click the Computer Name tab, then the Change button.
Change the workgroup name to the same as the others, then click OK.
Restart and try again.

Hello again,
I've got another poser for you....if you can help!!
Both Main comp and Laptop say we do not have permission to access files, but other comp and NAS can be accessed from both these comps.
N.B. Other comp cannot access files fom main or laptop either.
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Chris

This problem is usually down to the firewall.
You need to find the range of ip addresses in your network, eg 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.5 and add them to the Trusted Zone.
What firewalls are you using?

I use the free version of Zone Alarm, but it's pretty along the same lines.
Find the ip address of your computer: Go to Start > Run and type cmd and press enter.
In the command box, type ipconfig and press enter. Your ipaddress will show, something like 192.168.1.2
Open Zone Alarm firewall.
Click Firewall on the left side, then the Zones tab on the right.
Click on the Add button, then ip range.
Enter the starting ip address with the lowest number of your addresses, eg 192.168.1.1
Enter the second as the highest in your network, eg 192.168.1.6
Give it a name, eg network.
Click OK, then Apply.
Now try again.
