I wondered if anyone could offer me some advice. I have a desktop which has Word 2007 on it. I have recently returned to education (what you may call a 'mature student'), and because I was fed up wrestling the kids for control of the pc I decided to buy myself a laptop! The idea was to set up a wireless connection via a router (not got that far but working on that elsewhere!) My question is; as the laptop only has Microsoft Works and not Word (My coursework is all typed up in word), will it be possible (once wireless) to share the program , or will I have to go out and buy Word software on top of everything else (bearing in mind I'm a poor student with 2 expensive to run kids!) or will I be able to download the free trial via the laptop (again once wireless!) Thanks for any ideas...Fed Up Wrestling!
They simple answer may be to go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;displaylang=EN and download and install (on the laptop) the small win32 cabinet file wp6rtf which is a converter allowing Works docs to be read in Word, and vice versa, without actually changing the file extension of the original file.
Very small footprint, and once installed requires no further action from you, just open a Works doc and it will be read and displayed in Word.
If you're a student you should be able to get hold of Office 2007 Ultimate for under £40 - check out http://www.theultimatesteal.com/home.asp - it's an offer MS are doing until April 2008 I think
