Automatic connection
      #367147 - Wed Oct 03 2007 12:50 AM

Hi people

I have a Toshiba laptop with an Atheros AR5004G wireless adaptor, my parents have a EI-Systems laptop with a Realtek RTL8187 wireless adaptor.
When I boot up my internet is automatically available and away I go, when my parents boot up their laptop they don't seem to have the same luxury.
They seem to have to press the WLAN button to get a connection and this doesn't always connect, they try to repair the connection but this totally upsets the network and knocks everyone offline (including the desktop user) which is another story.
Is there any way that I can make their laptop automatically connect without them having to press anything?

Right-click My Computer > Manage.

Click the + to the left of Services and Applications, then click Services.

In the right pane, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and right-click on it.

Click Properties.

Stop the service, then change the startup type to Disabled.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Thanks for the reply Richie.

I have done what you said but it doesn't want to know
I have checked my laptop and gone through most of the settings and they all seem to be the same as their settings, would it be because their laptop is basically just crap?

Doesn't sound very good. You might have to buy a USB adapter and disable the in-built one.
